B-115 Naval Buckle of Unknown Unit
Quite a nice, circular buckle, with the outer edge consisting of a
well rounded, high arched wreath of gilt laurel leaves. This surrounds a domed
center, on which is mounted a handsome bright silver plated naval anchor. The
condition of both gilt and silver finishes are excellent. There is a right side
keeper bar, with a belt hook mounted on the left side of the buckle reverse (as
worn). I have not been able to find documentation on this unique buckle, but it
came from an incredibly old collection and we have every reason to believe that
it may be early SA Marine or HJ Marine – if anyone out there can shed a little
light on this one, we welcome your input! The buckle has a diameter of
approximately 1.75”. A very nice piece!
