B-120 Late Police Other Ranks Koppelschloss [Belt
Buckle], in Pebbled Pot Metal
Decent example of a two-piece buckle that saw some usage. The metal
has a thin silver wash, and this has faded almost completely on the swastika
surface – leaving behind a matte grey. The later time frame of this buckle is
also evident in the rather flat pebbling – it has hardly any relief. The
roundel is separately applied – secured to the buckle face by means of tabs
that pass through the buckle surface (bent down on the rear). The roundel has
crisp detail to the insignia, but there is a slight dip in the swastika - looks
like it took a slight hit (not quite a dent, but it does dip slightly at the 7
o’clock position). The silver wash is mostly present, but a little thin. The
reverse is a bit toned, with the silver quite matte on this side, and thin in
some areas. The catch is the rounded, half-dome-style. Great example of a later
war vintage Police Enlisted Man’s buckle.
