B-185 Early Luftwaffe Aluminum “Other Ranks”
Buckle with Unit Marked Leather Tab
This super early example is produced in a naturally finished aluminum
which has just minor toning. There is minor wear to the pebbled field, with more
moderate wear to the highlights, like the eagle and wreath. The reverse has the
slotted ramp style aluminum catch along with an aluminum roll bar. The brown
leather tab remains soft and flexible. It is dated 1936 and stamped by the
manufacturer, F.W. Assmann of Ludenscheid. The reverse of the buckle is stamped
with a Unit marking, indicating the owner was assigned to a Luftwaffe War
School. Interesting, early, well-marked in above average condition!
