B-197 2nd Pattern RLB (Luftschutz) “Other
Ranks” Buckle
This is a stamped steel buckle that has a field grey finish that
remains 40% intact. There is only minor wear to the details. This pattern was
worn by Other Ranks personnel of the RLB, Canal & Waterways Administration
and SHD fire elements. The reverse features a “U” shaped bar with flat feet
welded to the buckle for the catch. The roll bar and prongs are painted steel.
The motto of the maker, Gustav Brehmer, is seen stamped at the catch end while
the date of manufacture, ’42, is seen underneath the roll bar. A sound
