B-208 Incredibly Scarce Political Leader’s
Brocade Belt
Regulations called for this type to be used with ceremonial dress.
This example has a brown velvet underlay, so it would have been used with the
brown tunic (there is a white and red underlay as well). It is 52mm wide (just
under 2.25”) with a machine woven gold oak leaf pattern. The top and bottom
edges have a protrusion of the brown velvet underlay followed by a gold stripe
and a brown stripe. Both of the slides (keepers) are included. The catch is gilt
finished metal with an oak leaf pattern. The reverse of the catch is stamped
with the RZM motto, as well as the number “M4/24”, indicating production by
Freidrich Linden of Lüdenscheid (FLL). The brown leather adjustment tongue is
stamped with the size of the belt in centimeters (95), this would fit up to a
size 34 waist. Also seen on the tongue is an “M” grade paper RZM tag. This
scarcely seen belt is in excellent condition!
