BK-237a Olympia 1936, Volume I
This book is Volume 1 (Band I) from a two volume set and covers the
1936 Winter Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, as well as some history of the
Olympics in general. There are details on the first games in Athens, in St.
Louis (1902), LA, and others. It also shows the Olympic preparations – the
Olympic stadium in Berlin, the Olympic village – and presents the different
event venues, as well as sections on each event – figure skating, sledding,
details the International Olympic Committee members, the organization, the
various committees (and insignia) of each nation taking part (the Soviet Union
is conspicuously absent). The torch run with Olympic flame is covered, as well.
It also presents all the winter sports events, complete with lists of the
winners, and includes sections on Boxing and other sports. The photos are actual
original prints pasted in – the clarity is superb – and none are missing.
The book has approximately 167 pages and even includes the original black and
white dust jacket, which has some tape on the corners but is in otherwise
surprisingly good condition. Great publication!
