BK-48 On the Field of Honor – A History of the
Knight’s Cross Bearers, Volumes One and Two
By John R. Angolia. This set contains two volumes of this
excellent publication. What makes these so special is that they are hand signed
by some of the recipients discussed in the books! Volume One is hand signed by
Knights Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds recipient Luftwaffe
Generalleutnant Adolf Galland, the second recipient ever of this distinguished
award (the first was Luftwaffe Oberst Werner Mölders), along with Luftwaffe
Major Günther Rall, the 34th recipient of the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and
Swords. It is also signed by Luftwaffe Leutnant Friedrich “Fritz” Obleser,
who was a Knights Cross recipient and eventually went on to become a
Generalleutnant in the Bundeswehr. Volume Two is hand signed by Luftwaffe Oberst
Dietrich Hrabak, who was the 337th recipient of the oak leaves, as well as by
Luftwaffe Major Walter Krupinski, the 415th recipient of the oak leaves. Inside
volume one is a ticket stub from the event that these signatures were acquired
at, which was held in Virginia, but were not sure of the date, as that
information was contained on the other half of the stub! Both books are in
excellent condition! Volume one contains 287 pages, and volume two has 367
pages. A great find!
