C-005 Scarce Set of Unissued Slip-On
Shoulder Boards for an Army Kavallerie / Aufklärungs (Cavalry / Recon) Private,
Set Up for Wear on a Mountain Jacket
One of the more desirable Waffenfarbe (branch colors) and in
an interesting configuration! This perfectly matched set of boards were never
issued. They are made from a double layer of very slick surfaced, tightly woven
of dark field grey cotton – very lightweight - and the same material was used
for both upper and undersides (hence double-layer). The tongues are also of this
material, and shown wear whatever. The piping along the edges of the boards is
in the golden yellow Waffenfarbe (branch color) of Cavalry / Recon Troops. The
boards just the right type of skeleton key buttonhole that I like to see. This
type of shoulder boards was designed for wear on the mountain jacket. They
are in perfect condition.
