C-619 “Hilfskrankenträger” (“Assistant
Stretcher Bearer”) Armband, Sewn Ends
Worn by Army personnel serving as stretched bearers, the chain-stitch
style, black Fraktur (gothic) letters on this armband read “Hilfskrankenträger”
(“Assistant Stretcher Bearer”). The brassard feels like a cotton/rayon blend
fabric – substantial, but silky smooth. There is rectangular box outline in a
cable-like pattern (looks like braided rope), within which the word
Hilfskrankenträger appears, woven directly onto the brassard fabric; a negative
letter image of sorts appears on the inside reverse of the band. The white
fabric is light soiled, with an assortment of spots and faint stains, but is
otherwise in very solid condition!
