C-876a Early Single Slip-On Army Enlisted Man's
Shoulder Board with Embroidery
Early shoulder board in good quality field grey wool, with the
light shade most commonly encountered with early war production. The board is
piped in white cord. The wool face has a large, chain stitched Roman letter
“W”, with slightly smaller Roman numerals “VII” beneath the W. This
indicates that the wearer was assigned to the Headquarters or Recruiting Office
of Wehrkreis (Military District) 7. The obverse wool surface is in sound
condition with minimal signs of mothing, while the reverse has a section at the
top (around the piping) with missing material. The piping has some minimal
soiling and a few bites at the top (same area as the reverse). A sound overall
example!
