D-168 War Merit Cross Second Class with
Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern) Award Document to
Jagdaufseher Ferdinand Schlegel, with Facsimile Keitel Signature
Neat document on pre-printed stock paper, which is a medium weight
card stock. The presentation text reads “in the name of the Führer, I present
to Gamekeeper Ferdinand Schlegel the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit
Schwertern” (no explanation as to why he rated the Swords, not being military)
in Fraktur (gothic) typeface. The document has a facsimile signature of
“Generalfeldmarschall und Chef des Oberkommandos der Wermacht” Keitel. There
is a worn fold crease across the center (slightly fragile), and minimal
browning, but the certificate overall is very nice. This award was issued at
“Führer Headquarters” on 1 April 1944. Neat piece!
