D-184 U-Boat Soldbuch for Crewmember from the
U-967 Who Served Under a Diamond's Recipient
This Soldbuch was acquired from a United States Veteran, who took it
as a souvenir after U-967 was scuttled in southern France in August 1944.
The Soldbuch has its original leatherette protective cover. It has a nice
photo of Maschinen-Obergefreiter Willi Lägler, who served on U-967 from the
time of its construction until it was scuttled. Lägler served under three
Commanders, including Heinrich Loeder, Albrecht Brandi - a Diamonds recipient -
and Heinz-Eugen Eberbach. The cover has a nice photo of Lägler attached
and the desirable "U" stamp allowing him to enter the U-Boat
pens. Lägler earned the U-Boot Badge on 23 February 1944 and the E.K. II
on 20 May 1944. The entries include his Unit assignments, clothing
issuances, leaves, awards, etc. The Soldbuch is terrific condition, thanks
to its cover and proper care over the years! Henrich Loeder's signature
appears twice in the Soldbuch. It includes a Fahrttabelle (speed table)
for E-Maschine (Electric engines), a leave pass for Paris, and ration coupons
for cheese, meat, fat, etc. Also, take a look at this website:
