D-185  Document Grouping, Including Letterhead from the Desk of Gauleiter Alfred Meyer and Envelopes from Heinrich Hoffmann (Hitler’s Photographer)
The letterhead of Gauleiter Alfred Meyer (click here to learn more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Meyer ) features an embossed Political-type eagle on the top left corner. Seen below is the script “Alfred Meyer Gauleiter und Reichsstatthalter, Oberpräsident Der Provinz Westfalen”. The upper right corner says “Münster (Westf.),”. The paper measures 11.5” by 7.5” (29.2cm by 19cm) and is a quality, fairly heavy stock. There is a stain seen to the right of top center, and a few other small spots of discoloration. It is folded in half. There are six envelopes in the Heinrich Hoffmann ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinrich_Hoffmann ) grouping. All six are of manila paper, and one is reinforced with cardboard. This one has the script “Vorsicht! Nicht brechen! Kunstblätter!” (Caution! Do not bend! Recipients!) on the top left corner. There are three recipients’ names (Bormann, Troost, Gall) handwritten on the envelope, as well as an address is Munich. The bottom left has a static swastika as well as “Nationalsozialistischer Bildverlag, Heinrich Hoffmann, München/Friedrichstr. 34”.The other five have either type or handwritten messages on the front with dates that range from March 1939 through June 1939. Some of the contents of these envelopes were photos of a Luftwaffe parade. All of the envelopes show minor wear, discoloration and a few tears but overall they are in good condition. A very interesting document grouping from two prominent personalities!
