E-100 Three-Quarter Size Miniature Luftwaffe Sword on
Propeller by Alcoso
NO serious blade collection should be without one three-quarter sized
Luftwaffe Sword mounted on a propeller base (Volume II, page 385). This
beautiful piece would look outstanding centered on your desk or as a centerpiece
for a Luftwaffe display! Enjoy! This example remains in gorgeous
condition and would surely satisfy the fussiest collector! The fittings
throughout are silver plated, with the plating grading 99%. The pommel
with sunwheel swastikas is void of any gilding while the rest of the pommel
shows minimal age. There is some minor plating loss to the left side.
The grip is constructed of choice Moroccan leather, which displays faint wear to
the highlights. It is tightly wrapped with double brass wire with one
strand being plain while the other is twisted. The crossguard features the
down-swept detailed feathered quillon wings with a smaller sunwheel swastika
appearing on each center side. As is the case with the pommel, there is NO
gilding to either swastika. The fine nickel plated blade shows minimal
age, easily grading mint! The edges and tip are perfectly crisp! The
reverse ricasso is etched with the Alcoso scales having the firm’s initials
ACS interspersed which are the early trademark. The thin blue/black
leather washer is missing. The scabbard shell is totally straight!
Both fittings are perfectly matched with 100% silver plating intact. The
lower scabbard tip is slight bent, which the majority of collectors would NOT
notice! The Moroccan leather is a nice match to the grip displaying NO
wear or age! Beautiful! The upper mount is equipped with two eyelets
and rings just like the full-sized counterpart. The left ring is slightly
bent! The scabbard is mounted to the cast iron base fashioned into a
miniature propeller via two struts. The propeller shows NO wear or age
while still retaining the original factory lacquer and the blue felt
base-buffer. VERY difficult to locate a piece in this condition! Strong
excellent.
