E-113 ULTRA RARE Gold Government Official (RMBO)
Dagger by Carl Eickhorn
I’m very pleased to be able to offer my customers this ULTRA-RARE,
Eastern Ministry, or as it is better known, the Gold Government Official’s
Dagger. With the exception of the gilded surface, these daggers are
identical to the standard Government Official Dagger produced by Carl Eickhorn.
The gilding utilized by Eickhorn is very distinctive having the same hue and age
toning as the Marine NSKK and the early Army General’s Dagger. Before I
continue with the detailed description, let me put to rest the myth that this
model dagger was originally produced as the standard Government Official’s
Dagger in silver and then were later given a gilded wash. This is NOT the
case! All the original examples that I’ve owned or examined contain a
brass base metal NOT a silver plated finish. Now for the description!
This piece has never been cleaned! The gilded finish throughout grades
98%! Gorgeous! The hilt area has a darker hue appearance resulting
from the loss of the original lacquer in addition to having contact with hand
oils and the air. Typical of all Eickhorn Government Official Daggers, the
details to the hilt and scabbard are outstanding! The edges to the
bird’s head are also outstanding remaining perfectly crisp throughout, while
the surfaces remain smooth. The top spanner nut is perfectly flush
following the contour to the head. The spanner holes show minor signs of
being turned, but every so slightly. The front cover plate and ferrule are
perfect with a matching patina to the rest of the hilt. The grip plates
have toned to a beautiful golden color. The crossguard has an outstanding
detailed eagle with upturned wing tips. The patina beautifully matches the
look of the other hilt and scabbard parts. The edges remain crisp while
the surfaces are smooth. The blade is mirror bright in addition to
having a couple of minor smudges here and there, grading mint-! The edges
and tip is factory crisp! The reverse ricasso is etched with the Eickhorn
1935-41 Squirrel logo with the company location below Solingen. The
background burnishing is very dark. The thin brown leather washer is
present. The scabbard shell is straight throughout! The scabbard is
the same style that was utilized on the Eickhorn Army and Government
Official’s Daggers. The oak leafed carrying bands reflect excellent
detailing, having three-section, serrated eyelets. The throat is the
classic thicker type and is retained by one reverse center-placed, flathead
screw that is unturned. A MUSEUM quality piece that is missing from even
the most advanced collections! BUY in ANY condition! Near mint.
