E-229 Army Cavalry Double Engraved NCO Sword by WMW (Max
Weyersberg)
This Cavalry model sword remains in CHOICE condition and would be
the highlight of any sword or cavalry collection! The hilt is
the standard unembellished variety, being of solid brass
construction exhibiting NO real wear or age. The grip is black celluloid over wood remaining in perfect condition. It is
wrapped with triple twisted brass wire with the center piece being larger. There is one strand that has been
repaired. The
lower guard area contains the leather finger loop. The 32" double engraved blade is
bright and shiny, grading mint-! The blade edge and spine edges remain crisp as does the
tip. The engraving to each side measures 12.5" in overall length. The
obverse blade has two panels with the largest being engraved “Kavallerie
Regt. Bad Cannstatt” which translates “Cavalry Regiment Bad Cannstatt” and
immediately to the right is the smaller panel housing a large Wehrmacht eagle
with outstretched wings. The right, left and center boarder areas are
adorned with beautiful floral. The reverse blade shows two smaller
panels with the first panel closest to the tip housing a helmet with two
crossed rifles and oak leaves while 4.5" to the right is a Wehrmacht closed-winged eagle
with swastika. The reverse ricasso is
etched with the early Max Weyersberg WMW logo. It consists of a large oval circle with the firm’s initials lying in the center “WMW.” Finally,
a sword pierces the center. The thick dark brown leather washer
is intact. The scabbard shell is totally straight! The original black paint has a beautiful shine, grading 99%. The large
carrying
ring is slightly bent! A beautiful sword for the advanced collector! RARE
to find quality engraved Third Reich Cavalry NCO swords! It would look gorgeous
on one of my acrylic sword stands! Near mint.
