E-233a Army Officer’s Lionhead Sword,
Unattributed Model by Puma
This is a FANTASTIC piece for the true connoisseur of fine swords!
Spectacular! I recently purchased this exquisite piece from a long time
collector who has the finest conditioned blade collection in existence!
The hilt is the early solid brass construction with 99% gilding intact.
HARD to top this one! The pommel, backstrap and “P” guard are all hand
decorated with raised out oak leaves and acorns. The black celluloid grip
is in near perfect condition being tightly wrapped with triple tarnished silver
wire with the centerpiece being larger than the two outer strands. The
only detractor from making this grip mint is a few minute scratches here and
there. The crossguard languet features a raised out outstretched winged
eagle with the head facing to the right. There is beautiful hand done
background pebbling throughout with the raised out portion of the bird’s
chest, reflecting NO wear/age. The underside of the guard is stamped
“Ges.Gesch” which translates “Patent Pending”. The nickel plated
blade is 30” in length, grading mint-! The in and out marks are
extremely faint! The edges and tip is factory crisp. The reverse
ricasso is etched with the later cat within the diamond logo and below is the
company location Solingen. The leather washer is present, grading mint-!
The scabbard is totally straight to all sides. The paint is bright and
shinny grading 99%! The thick scabbard throat is retained by two domehead
side screws which are unturned! Fabulous piece! If you only want
one, this is it! Near mint.
