E-432c SCARCE Unissued SA Dagger With Hanger, Tag
and Paper Bag by RZM M7/36 (E. & F. Horster)
This is yet another magnificent piece that I recently purchased from
the premier blade collector! It was originally purchased by him directly
from the returning Veteran sometime in the early 1980’s. Unissued SA
Daggers have all but dried up on today’s market! The hilt is in gorgeous
condition with NO freckling or lifting, which is extremely common to these
late-period pieces. The hilt plating grades 100%! NONE finer!
The edges retain their crispness, while the surfaces are smooth. The
CHOICE grip is a most pleasing light brown color with a beautiful vertical
grain, exhibiting absolutely NO wear or age. The contour ridge is the
medium style containing a mint SA button and aluminum grip eagle. The
button is the semi-convex type, showing NO storage marks. The SA grip
eagle is the point behind the head variety. Attached to the upper grip
area is the original RZM paper tag. Stenciled to the obverse side is the
number “338699”, while the reverse side has the RZM circle with burnished
background, along with the original maker’s RZM code (M7/36). RARE
find here! The blade is totally unissued with crisp edges and tip, in
addition to having very light runner marks and 100% crossgraining. The SA
motto “Alles fur Deutschland” could not be better, having 100% background
burnishing. The reverse ricasso area is matching etched with the small
closed RZM circle and directly below is the maker’s RZM code (M 7/36).
Finally, the blade to shoulder fit could not be better! The scabbard shell
is straight throughout with the original chocolate brown paint appearing factory
new at 100%. CAN’T upgrade this one! The plated fittings perfectly
match the look and condition of the hilt fittings, grading mint.
Amazingly, there are NO scratches, dents, or freckling anywhere to be found!
The four domehead side screws are in place and unturned. Attached to the
upper scabbard fitting is an unissued short brown leather hanger with the
matching retaining loop. The reverse leather is stamped RZM L2/2601/41.
The hanger hardware is nickel plated, grading mint. The snap clip is fully
functional and is reverse stamped RZM M5/8. The hanger easily grades mint.
Accompanying the dagger is the original to the piece manila issue paper bag
minus the original packing tissue paper. For a 60+ year old piece, it
remains in remarkable condition. There are a couple of minor rips or
tears, grading near mint. The upper portion of the obverse side contains
the words “SA-Dienstdolch”. For the ADVANCED collector! Dagger
– Mint / Issue Bag – Strong excellent.
