E-469 Late-Period Unissued NSKK Enlisted Man’s
Dagger With Hanger & Tag by RZM M7/73 (F. & A. Helbig)
This Helbig NSKK grouping includes the dagger, hanger and the
attached tag. The fittings throughout have that chrome-like finish,
grading at least 99%! The crossguards are the thicker style, retaining
crisp edges and smooth surfaces. There are faint bubbling/lifting marks to
the areas adjacent to both sides of the wooden grip. The distinctive
Helbig grip is the thicker style with a sharp contour ridge. The grip is a
most appealing reddish-brown color with a very attractive vertical grain,
grading mint-. There are a few very tiny stress fractures around the guard
areas, but nothing to be worried about! The grip-to-guard fit is very
nice, especially for a later-period RZM piece! The SA button is nicely
set, exhibiting NO carrying wear. There is oxidation to the plated areas.
The grip eagle is the early nickel variety and upon closer examination, it is
the upward pointing beak style. It displays minor highlight wear/age.
The blade is stone mint! NONE finer! It remains bright and shiny,
displaying 100% graining. The edges and tip are crisp! The SA motto
“Alles fur Deutschland” is the lightly etched style, which is again
indicative of this manufacturer. The motto background burnishing grades
100%. The reverse ricasso is also lightly etched with the large RZM
burnished circle and below is the RZM code M 7/73. The scabbard is totally
mint! The shell is straight throughout with the original black paint
grading 100% with NO chips, scratches or paint spiders! The fittings have
a matching chrome-like finish, grading mint! The four domehead side screws
are present and unturned. They also are chrome-like and perfectly match
the hilt fittings. Attached to the scabbard ring is the original black
short leather hanger, grading mint! The leather is unmarked. The
small retaining strap is present and perfectly matches the hanger leather.
The fittings are chrome-like, grading 98%, with some minor plating loss.
The reverse side of the snap clip is stamped A (actually the Assman logo &
DGRM over RZM / M5/8). Attached to the scabbard ring is the original RZM
triangular light cardboard tag. It is missing a small portion of the
corner of the tag but is a sound and scarce accessory. The obverse side has
the RZM stamping with a black background. Beneath is stamped
Reichszeugmeisterei/der/NSDAP and below are black lines which house the
following number ANo. 029723. The reverse side is stamped with the NSKK
Eagle over Dienstdolch/nach/hach Vorschrift/Hersteller: M7/73.
This is truly a highly presentable NSKK RZM grouping!
