E-480b Late Period Hitler Youth Knife Without
Motto by RZM M7/13 (Arthur Schuttlehofer & Co)
I recently purchased this choice example as part of a very large
dagger collection. The nickel plated hilt remains bright and shiny
displaying some wear/age. The plating exhibits faint bubbling throughout,
grading 98%! Typical of Hitler Youth knives that have seen usage, there is
wear in and around the retaining strap area. The black bakelite grip
plates are crisp and in perfect condition. There is a casting flaw to the
reverse plate, which is NOT uncommon! The enameled HJ insignia could not
be better, grading mint. It is the springy style! The grip plates
are retained with nickel plated steel rivets, with the obverse heads being
dressed. The blade is bright and shiny showing wear and usage. It is
the late-style without the motto, but with a ricasso! The edges and tip
remain crisp. There are numerous surface scratches throughout along with
minor edge sharpening. Finally, there are a few minor smudges to both
sides. The blade grades very good! The reverse blade is stamped with the
closed RZM circle and below is the manufacture’s RZM code M 7/13. A
thick black leather washer is present. The scabbard is straight throughout
showing MUCH wear/age. The original black paint grades 60% with most of
the wear appearing to the reverse side. The black leather hanger and
retaining loop are in strong excellent condition! A DECENT collectible
example! Near excellent.
