E-491b  Short Single Etched Dress Bayonet With Frog and NCO Troddel by Puma
The hilt has seen some overall wear, but remains in collectible condition!  The nickel plating to the hilt exhibits carrying signs, peppering, plating wear, and hits to the lug area rendering a small split to the upper obverse pommel area.  Sounds much worse than it really is!  The plating grades 95%!  The mortise button is fully functional.  The original felt plug is missing to time!  The crossguard has the same appearance as the other hilt areas.  The black bakelite checkered grip plates are in perfect condition and are retained by two nickel plated steel rivets with obverse dressed heads.  The short blade is the slab style having a wider fuller construction.  The blade remains bright and shiny, while the spine and tip remain crisp and precise with the edge having one very faint nick.  Almost undetectable!  The reverse side is etched with a beautiful frosted panel grading 100%.  The panel features the standard remembrance “Zur Erinnerungan an meine Dienzeit” appearing in two lines with large letters.  It is bordered on the left with an open winged eagle and swastika while the right side contains a finely detailed raised helmet.  The helmet and eagle rests over swirl and curl designs.  There is a thin decorative boarder style ribbon resting on the top and bottom of the remembrance.  Finally, the lower right edge of the panel is engraved “Ges. Gesch.”.  The black leather blade washer is in place, grading near mint.  The reverse ricasso is stamped with the famous Puma trademark.  It consists of a diamond figure with the cat’s head inside the diamond and below is the company name Puma.  Directly underneath the diamond is the company location Solingen.  The blade easily grades near mint-.  The scabbard is totally straight!  The original black paint displays MUCH wear/age grading 30%!  The original frog is the black leather style NOT the patent leather variety.  It shows wear and age, grading strong excellent.  Attached to the frog is the original enlisted NCO troddel.  It consists of green fabric strapping with twin sets of triple bullion lines sewn throughout the length of the strapping.  The stem and slides are a green and bullion mixture.  The acorn has a green top and a bullion body.  The lower insert is the same material as the strapping.  A very collectible example!  Excellent+.
