E-492e Short Fireman’s Bayonet With Frog by E. Unknown Maker
This early example is a real beauty! It is in untouched condition!
The nickel plating throughout has that “just found” look. The plating
has that greenish hue grading 99% with the minor loss along the reverse right
edge. The entire hilt shows little to no wear. The black checkered
grip plates are perfect! They are retained by steel rivets having dressed
obverse heads displaying much rust. The 8” nickel plated blade is bright
and shiny being the slab style with narrow fuller. The edges and tip
remain crisp. There are the normal superficial scratches and a couple of
minor smudges. The blade grades near mint-! The ricasso areas are
void of any maker’s mark. A beige felt washer is intact and is
guaranteed to be 100% original to the piece! The short scabbard is a real
eye-catcher with one tiny dimple to the lower reverse side. The paint is
stunning, grading 99%! Attached to the scabbard is an original to the
piece black leather frog, grading near mint! The reverse side is void of
any maker marks. The leather is very nice, showing minimal wear/age,
grading strong excellent+. Tough to upgrade this one! Strong
excellent.
