E-496 Long Single Engraved Army Bayonet With Frog

This piece is red hot and right out of the woodwork! With the
exception of the blade, I’ve left it in untouched condition for you purists!
The hilt nickel plating has that 65+ year old untouched appearance with the
plating appearing to grade at 99%. There is very minor wear to the right,
upper obverse pommel area. The edges throughout appear to be crisp.
The red felt plug remains in the rifle slot, exhibiting minor age soiling.
The mortise button is fully functional. The black checkered bakelite grip
plates are in perfect condition. They are retained by two obverse dressed
heads showing age and some minor rust. The guard perfectly matches the
look and condition of the pommel. The long blade is the style having a
wide fuller remaining bright and shiny. The nickel plating is really
beautiful, grading 98% with minor smudging to the reverse side! The
obverse side is engraved with the most impressive 3” Party Day style eagle
that absolutely takes your breath away! In addition, it is beautifully
detailed with oak leaves and acorns which flank the eagle’s wings. To
the bottom left of the wreathed swastika is engraved “Zur Errinnerung” hile
the opposite side is engraved “a meine Dienstzeit” which translates to “In
remembrance of my time in service”. Finally, to the right and left of
the side panels are art deco designs. The reverse side is unadorned with
some smudging to various areas of the entire blade. The reverse ricasso is
etched Solingen with NO maker’s mark present. The edges and tip are
crisp. The blade grades strong excellent! The black leather washer
is in place, grading strong excellent. The scabbard has that just out of
the footlocker appearance, which should clean up nicely. It is
perfectly straight! The original factory black paint grades 85% with
numerous paint spiders and mild rust throughout both sides. There is a
black leather frog that exhibits much wear/age mainly in the form of age cracks
and color loss, grading good. A decent VIRGIN piece! Very good.
