E-498 Presentation/Wedding Present Dress Fire Axe
Large dress axe, measuring 15” in length. The deeply engraved head
has a fire-breathing dragon on one side and a fireman’s motif on the other.
Both side plates on the handle are engraved. One side translates figuratively to
“From the Association of Fire Fighters of Eberschwang” (a town in Austria).
The other plate roughly translates to “Best of Luck on Wedding day 26 Nov.
1923”. Some of the plating is lifted so it’s a bit hard to make out the
engraving. The plated back straps also have some lifting and the plating is
thin. The black painted wooden handle is quite sound. The silver plating on the
bottom fitting is 80% present. Unique collectible.
