F-202a Choice Set of Officer Boots
This fine pair of boots stand about 17” tall. Each boot includes a
small buckle strap across a wedge-shaped opening at the top rear of the shaft.
The leather – including the vamp (this the part where the tongue would
be on a shoe) is in outstanding condition with no cracking (the leather is quite
supple!) and someone has put a real nice shine on them. The soles show a fair
degree of wear, but no significant degradation and only some minor surface
crazing at the arch point (mid foot). An incised number stamp note: “42 682”
appears here. The rubberized heel sole is molded with the brand name “Tepla”.
All of the boot’s welts (seams) appear tight, and the uppers and soles are
secure. The inner shafts of the boots are lined in black fabric (rare!) right up
to a tan leather top band (about 2.75” wide). This area is clearly marked
“42 1 824” in ink. Each boot has the customary pull-tabs (for use with a
metal boot hook) in black cloth mounted on the shaft sides – there is also a
black leather button slot tab for attaching the boots to breeches. These boots
are about a U.S. men’s size 8.5 (possibly 9) – though a little narrow - and
excellent for a mannequin display!
