F-211b Fully Inert Practice
Stielhandgranate (Stick Hand Grenade) – As Complete as You Can Find!
A very scarce item – can’t remember when I last had one
of these, and it is in outstanding condition. This grenade is the practice
configuration, which consisted of a hollow, two-piece head with large holes in
the upper section. This top part sets into the base section, with small rivets
around the rim of the base. The head is painted dark red – the original paint
- all the way down to the wooden handle. There are scrapes and scratches to the
paint and some darkened areas. If you look carefully you can see the head
is marked (like the stick). The wooden “Stiel” (stick/shaft) handle is
very nicely turned, with a well-aged look to the wood. It is in fine condition,
complete with the screw-on dark green painted base cap (not much paint
remaining) still present, which covers the detonator cord and white bakelite
ball inside the handle. The handle on this grenade is very nicely marked just
below the “warhead” base with the date “1940”, a maker logo, and a black
ink Waffenamt stamp. On the opposite side, in the same position, appears a large
“Üb” – the abbreviation for “Übungsgrenate” (Practice Grenade). A
very seldom-encountered piece, in excellent condition and as complete as you
will ever find one of these.
