F-219 Cased A.W. Faber-Kastell Slide Rule
No doubt you have seen and used many Faber-Kastell pencils in
your lifetime – pencils made by the descendent of this company. This is a very
high quality wooden slide rule, with assorted scales on the three top sides, and
a sliding metal window with rule lines. The narrow, center scaled panel slides
outward to the left or right of the scale body – another set of scales
appearing on the underside marked (“sln”, “sln / tg”, and “tg”). The
rule is in very nice condition; there are two arching cracks in the glass
window, but the window still slides perfectly and there’s no wobbling visible
in the cracked glass. The rule measures slightly under 12” in length, and fits
neatly into a two-piece, dark grey, two-part, overlapping storage case. The top
of the case is marked with the company name and logo, embossed in gold ink into
the surface. There is some slight damage along a section of the bottom edge of
the case (the cardboard material is scraped through the grey surface to the
underlying grey pressed paper, with a little fraying to the edges), but nothing
especially visible, and the edge damage does not affect the integrity of the
case, which is otherwise quite sound. Really neat item!
