F-225a Klappspaten (Folding Spade)
The shovel is a very nice, representative example, with normal wear.
The wooden spade handle is nicely browned, with a well-aged gloss to the wood
and a nicely detailed wood grain. There is a ring of dark olive green paint
around the handle just above the blade sleeves. There is a small crack in the
wood at the end of one of the grain lines, but it is very short and does not
impact the structural soundness of the handle. The blade has a few uneven spots
toward the tip (originally dents, most likely), but is pretty straight. The tip
and spines are bare of paint, with the exposed metal a deep pewter color. The
threaded bakelite nut on the handle turns very smoothly. Overall a great example
that will display very well.
