F-227 Excellent (and Interesting) WWII German
Canteen
This canteen is unissued and in excellent condition. As you can see,
the G.I. who brought it home “personalized” the cup and the canteen itself
by adding Army helmet decals to each! Our picker purchased a large lot of items
from the family to include some original decals, and this canteen was the
recipient of two of them. The cup retains 99% of its field grey finish, the
brown wool cover is excellent as are the straps and hardware. The canteen has a
red oxide finish that is fully intact. The neck of the canteen is marked with
the maker initials “NL”. The snap clip is marked “Patent Ritter”. An
intriguing display item!
