FL-105 Luftwaffe Commanding General of an Air
Fleet’s Vehicle Flag [Kommandoflagge für den Chef einer Luftflotte]
Except for the fact that the hoist staff sleeve was cut to allow the
flag to be removed more easily from the staff, this two-sided flag itself is in
excellent condition, with only the slightest of soiling and no damage at all
(excluding the hoist sleeve). The bright red flag “ground” (i.e. the
background field) proper - not including the half-inch or so of extra material
that once formed the hoist sleeve (now cut) - measures almost exactly a square
foot (1’ by 1’) – 30 X 30 cm. Centered within the red field is an inner
square divided into four equal smaller squares (each square about 3.75” by
3.75”). These squares are alternating black and white so that the like colors
match on the diagonal angle. Superimposed on this black and white cube is a
Luftwaffe General’s embroidered in a chain stitch-like fashion from gold
bullion thread. Regardless of which side you look at, the eagle is oriented so
that its head faces the staff side. The eagle’s wingspan is wide enough (about
8”), that the wingtips protrude just beyond the edges of the cube. This
spectacular little pennant once adorned the fender of a Luftwaffe Air Fleet
Commanding General’s staff car, and now it is ready to proclaim “CG”
("Commanding General!") from your wall. A superb military piece and
very desirable!
