FL-16 Large Second Pattern RLB Banner
This two-sided banner measures approximately 94” (239cm) long by
54” (137cm) wide. It is produced in a red bunting material that has just a few
very minor moth nips. It is very clean, with just minor discoloration. A large
red disc (of bunting material also) has been separately applied to each side.
This disc has a printed version of the RLB (Reichsluftschutzbund-National Air
Protection Corps) motto, which consists of a white starburst (like a pip) with a
mobile swastika in black on center. The hoist edge (top) has a heavy duty white
cloth reinforcement under which a rope lanyard has been sewn. This lanyard is
looped at each end; one end has a swivel hook for raising and displaying the
banner. This reinforcement has a black stitching throughout, as well as a
manufacturer’s tag. This indicates that the banner was produced by
“Fahnenrichter” in Köln (Cologne). A triangular section of cloth is used to
reinforce each upper corner as well. A scarcely seen banner in near excellent
condition!
