FL-42a Interesting Pennant for a School in Winnenden
This interesting pennant is two-sided and quite large, measuring 30.5” long
by 18.5” (77.5cm x 47cm). It is produced in cloth, with one side displaying a
typical party view with a red field containing a separately applied white cloth
disc and printed black swastika. The opposite side has a black field with chain
stitched script that reads “Volksschulklasse 5 Winnenden” ("People’s
School")
in a circular pattern surrounding the Coat of Arms (at that time) of the city of
Winnenden. This is a small town in the Rems-Murr district of the Stuttgart
Region in Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany. Also seen is the name “Armin”,
possibly referring to the “Armen Konrad”, or the peasant's Army that the town
was once under the control of. There is moderate discoloration to the script,
but no damage at all. There is minor discoloration throughout the rest of the
pennant. There is no provision seen for displaying this, most likely there was
some sort of lanyard/snap clip set up originally. An interesting item in above
average condition!
