FL-54 Extremely Rare Two-Sided DLV Pennant,
Blue Piped
A piece that almost never turns up, this little pennant is a rare
piece for this unique, early Third Reich organization. It is made of two sides,
each in tightly woven cotton and sewn together. The field is red. The DLV wing,
swastika and encircling rings are machine woven on a separate rayon fabric, then
applied to each pennant side with a very heavy, tight stitch around the entire
circumference of the insignia. The imagery is quite crisp, and very sharp. The
pennant’s outer edge is piped in light blue cord – perhaps indicating local
group level. The red field shows some very minimal soiling, and the white hoist
edge is soiled, but there is no damage, the insignia is in excellent condition
(both sides) and the piping is secure. The hoist has a small, dark toned brass
securing ring attached at the top and bottom. Very neat pennant, measuring
approximately 7” by 11.25”.
