M-007 Scarce Gau Thuringen Badge, Numbered #1046
on Reverse
As you know the 1,000 longest serving Party members of Thüringen
received these badges which were numbered from 1 to 1000 on the reverse. Another
group was produced without numbers, which were awarded to distinguished Party
members. Yet another run was produced when the others were depleted, that
continued to be numbered; this is the category that this example falls into and
based on the number, would have been one of the first produced in the continued
numbered series. It is highly detailed, being stamped from a sheet of brass to
form an eagle looking to his left grasping a large static swastika in its
talons. The swastika has the raised script “NSDAP Für Treue Thüring”. The
natural bronze finish has toned/burnished over the years lending a handsome,
dark tone to the badge. The reverse has the number “1046” stamped onto it.
Also seen is a horizontal needle-type pin produced in brass with a sheet metal
type catch and hinge. Some light oxidation is seen on the reverse. This scarce
and desirable badge is one that rarely becomes available!
