M-015b Cased Luftwaffe Paratrooper Badge (Fallschirmschützenabzeichen)
All Officers, NCOs and Enlisted Men of the Luftwaffe who successfully
completed six parachute jumps and other required tests were authorized to
receive this badge. This earlier-war, tombak example retains the original
burnished finish to the wreath, which has toned to a musky grey hue. The details
remain crisp, with only minor wear present. The gilt finish on the tombak eagle
and swastika remain well intact, at 85%! The eagle is retained to the wreath by
a pair of small rivets, visible on the reverse of the badge. The pin (missing
finish) is narrow and round, with a pointed end. The hinge is a rugged barrel
type, with a flat wire catch attached to the badge via an oval base. The case
exterior is finished in a blue leatherette (minor wear) with the description in
gilt on the upper lid, which is quite faded. This reads “Fallschirmschützen
Abzeichen”. Inside, the upper lid is finished in a purplish rayon, while the
lower section is finished in a blue flocking material with a section cut out for
the badge to sit in. Quite the handsome example of this desirable badge!
