M-022 German Cross in Gold by C.E. Juncker
This is the heavy (tombak), type II version of this desirable award.
It is easily identified by the 13 lines below the date on the bottom of the
wreath. The badge has a very handsome, dark look overall. There is
moderate damage to the center of the enamel swastika, revealing the base tombak
material. There is little to no wear to the details throughout. The reverse has
the five rivet configuration; one small rivet (flush to the reverse) at each
cardinal point and a larger one (holding the swastika on) in the center. The
round wire (tombak) catch and hinge are soldered directly onto the reverse of
the badge. The slowly tapers down to a point. The silver finish to the reverse
remains mostly intact, with just slight toning. A handsome example from the
distinguished firm of C. E. Juncker!
