M-209a Cased WWII Iron Cross 1st Class, Pin Marked
“65” for Klein and Quenzer
This example has a darkly toned nickel/silver frame, giving it a
handsome look! The black core paint remains nearly fully intact. There is little
to no wear to the highlights. The reverse is toned as well, just not as darkly
as the front. The coke bottle shaped pin is stamped with the number “65”,
indicating production by Klein and Quenzer of Idar/Oberstein. There is a “C”
shaped round wire catch soldered directly onto the back and a rugged barrel type
hinge. The case is produced in a pebbled black leatherette and has a facsimile
of the award in silver on the top lid. There is minor wear only to the exterior.
Inside, the upper lid is lined in an off-white satin while the lower,
compartmented section is lined in a black flocking. A near excellent example!
