M-233 Golden Hitler Youth Badge [Goldenes
Hitler Jugend Ehrenzeichen]
This uncommon badge was awarded to all members of the HJ and the BDM
(the female equivalent) who joined the Hitler Youth before the 2nd of October
1932 (at which time the HJ claimed some 107,000 members) and who completed five
years unbroken service in either the HJ or, later, other Nazi organizations. It
could also be awarded for merit regardless of service conditions. It was worn on
the left breast pocket exactly as with the regular version. This example is very
nice! It is slightly larger than the standard badge, and the gilt trimmed border
and small gilt central diamond with the superimposed black enameled swastika
have only tiny superficial scratches. The gilding is lightly toned. The reverse
side gilding is still nice and bright. The pin functions perfectly and has good
tension. It has a nice RZM mark, the makers code M1/78, and the serial number
“63940” (the Gold HJ badges were numbered). Excellent example of a quite
desirable and very collectible Gold HJ badge.
