M-295 Excellent Panzer Assault Badge (Panzerkampfabzeichen)
in Bronze by Steinhauer & Lück
The Panzer Assault (or Tank Battle) Badge was designed by Ernst
Peekhaus of Berlin and instituted for use on December 20, 1939. It was awarded
to personnel who participated as Tank Commanders, Gunners, Drivers or Radio
Operators in at least three different armored assaults on three different days.
This is the solid zinc version, slightly convex and retaining 90% of its bronze
finish, which has toned just slightly. There is no visible wear to the
highlights. The reverse features a barrel type hinge and a needle pin. The catch
is “C” shaped flat metal sitting on an oblong plate that is then soldered
onto the badge. An excellent example that would be hard to upgrade!
