M-887a “Gautag 1937, Die Bayer. Ostmark
ruft” Tinnie, Solid-Backed, Ceramic; Maker Marked
A very interesting tinnie in a roughly shield shaped configuration
(at a cant) formed by the body and wings of an eagle, which back a smaller, true
shield shape. On this appears a snowy hill, a fir tree and a small castle with
perhaps a border-crossing bar; the inscription reads: “The Bavarian East Mark
calls!” in the upper left and “Gautag 1937” in the bottom of the shield.
The white ceramic is nice and clean, and the tan paint used to color the
background is excellent. A unique tinnie type!
