S-004 Adolf Hitler Formal Presentation Frame
This handsome silver frame measures about a tad over 9.25” (292mm)
wide by about 13.5” high, with the highest, flat-topped rim edges of the frame
about .25” wide. The frame is actually stepped into three sections – the
highest outer rim, with two more inner rims, each a half-step lower than the
outer frame. The silver has a handsome patina, especially the flat, 2” wide
presentation panel across the bottom, which has the Greek key border motif that
Hitler liked, along with a raised relief political eagle and the raised capital
letters “A” and “H” flanking each side of the wreathed swastika. There
is some scratching to this panel, but nothing overly distracting. The autograph
and picture of the Führer (a superb, high quality post-war re-print of an
original) measures about 7.75” wide, and about 10.25” high, and is quite
impressive. The frame’s top side is marked “925” with the maker initials
inset in a incuse relief square “EHW”, and beside this a series of silver
marks. The rear side of the frame is a lightly padded, brick red leatherette
faced panel, with a block inset section that can be removed to insert the photo.
The pivoting angle stand is also faced in padded leatherette. The rear shows
quite a bit of heavy scuffing, but there are no tears, gouges or other damage
– it’s in fine shape overall, as are all swivel closures that hold the panel
in place. Quite an amazing piece that will make any desk or mantel look
impressive! Textbook example.
