S-050 SS Allach Porzellan Plate, Jul Fest ‘44
Allach porcelain is renowned for its superb quality. The even
thickness of the glaze over the porcelain surface is excellent; this plate was
for “Julfest 1944” (i.e. “Christmas Festival 1944”). The center image of
the plate is a large Mother’s Cross surrounded by a ring of Iron Crosses and
oak leaves. The inscription around the plate reads reads “DURCH MÜTTER UND
HELD IST UNSER DER SIEG” (“VICTORY IS OURS THROUGH MOTHERS AND
HERO”). The plate is full dinner-plate size, though somewhat deeper than a
normal plate at about one onch from bottom to the rim. The Julfest inscription
appears beneath this. The base rim on the backside of the plate has two holes
punched through it, with a fine wire run through them for hanging the piece on a
wall. The reverse notes: “Julteller der SS 1944” (“SS Jule Plate 1944”)
in black ink. At center reverse are two interlocked SS runes in green. A
spectacular piece overall!
