S-064 Eagle End Caps for a Schellenbaum Yoke
The eagle heads are hollow and so weigh very little; the Schellenbaum
was such a large construction that the weight of the individual pieces needed to
be kept to a minimum or it would have taken a Hercules to carry it! Slightly
more than halfway up the complete structure, was a more or less lazy U-shaped,
plated aluminum yoke-like piece (the ends extending equally to each side of
center) with the outward ends tapering, and flattening slightly; these narrow
ends were capped by the molded eagle heads! The heads are nicely plated in
nickel/silver, with handsome artificial burnishing that gives nice relief detail
to the sculpted feathers. Each head is equipped with a brass ring mounted
through the beak, toned now to nearly a brown color; each ring has an attached
press clip in brass, as well. Both eagles appear to be in excellent overall
condition. Each head measures about 6.5” long and 2.25” wide across the
broadest portion of the head. Very neat accessory!
