S-080a Unique Paintings of WWI-Era Couple
These oil on canvas paintings are of a British WWI soldier and his
wife. The original wood frames are fully intact. The artist is noted as “EB”
and the date, “’16”. Each is thickly brush stroked over a dark brown
background. The portrait of the female has a small tear just in front of her
nose, and the one of the soldier has a tear which has been repaired using some
cloth tape. Each shows some wear, with minor cracking and finish loss. A very
interesting and unique set that come to us as part of a militaria collection!
