S-151a German Dog Tag for an Allied
POW in Stalag IV B
Originally a larger rectangular piece of metal with a horizontal line
of perforations across the center (to make it easier to snap in half), this POW
identification dog tag has, in fact been snapped in half, leaving only one side
remaining. This is stamped with the facility name: Stalag IV B and the prisoners
identification number, 318006. A metal is aluminum and although soiled and with
a little toning, the metal’s original gleam still shows a bit. This camp,
Stalag IV B, was for Allied Enlisted and NCO POWs and was located at Mühlberg
an der Elbe (Elbe River), in eastern Germany. Very interesting piece.
