S-253a Veteran’s League “50 Year” Gorget
This great example is in near excellent condition and features a half
moon shaped nickel/silver plated breast plate. Over this, four very detailed
Veteran’s flags are superimposed in brass. In the center is the enameled
logo of the Veteran’s league, depicting the Kyffhauser Memorial atop a red
field with a central swastika. Just above this is a small black enamel circle
with the number “50” inside it. The two ornate buttons in the corner that
secure the clips for the chain are in place and excellent. The back of the plate
has the proper blue wool backing. Both chain clips on the back are present, with
the larger one stamped with the number “1”. The other has one a single brass
link. There is no chain present. Excellent overall!
