S-260 Excellent “Feldgendarmerie” Army Field
Police Gorget with Chain
Standard military issue Field Police (MP) gorget, with the matte
aluminum painted face. The dark grey scroll ribbon with the word
“Feldgendarmerie” and the Army straight winged eagle are both finished in
luminescent paint. The round corner boss buttons are also coated with the same
luminescent paint. Amazingly, the finish is nearly completely intact, with just
minor discoloration throughout! The reverse is lined in field grey wool, which
has some light nap loss due to moth tracking. There is a slip-on clip in the
upper left corner for the free end of the neck chain, and the closed metal loop
in the upper right corner holds the other end of the neck chain. Also seen is
another slip-on clip to hold the gorget to the uniform. This clip is stamped
with the makers motto, the capital “A” seen on examples produced by F.W.
Assmann. The full-length chain is excellent, retaining all of its matte silver
finish. An excellent example!
