S-575 Veteran’s Pinback Breast Eagle
Handsome example in lightly polished Leichtmetall (aluminum alloy),
with the swords crossed behind the Maltese cross - which factor distinguishes
this insignia from the Kyffhäuserbund eagle (the swords on that insignia cross
behind the eagle’s body). The bird has a slight arch to it. The black enamel
on the central Maltese cross is in outstanding condition with no scratches of
any note. The reverse is molded with the number “23” and “ges.gesch.” (a
form of patent protection notice). The round needle mounting pin is in excellent
condition, made of brass, and hinged to allow it to be swung out and around to
the right. It has a rounded catch on the reverse of the left wing (as viewed).
The pin functions perfectly. Very nice example and a fine display piece!
