S-842 One-of-a-Kind Sample Board of Army Kriegspfarrer/Bishop
Insignia with Wax Proof Stamp from Oberkommando des Heeres
This is literally the only one of these in existence! It is a
thick cardboard 9” (23cm) square with a pebbled black paper edge trim. The
script at the top says “Kragenpatten fur Feldbluse” or “Collar Tab
Patterns for Field Blouse”. The first two items on the board are exactly that,
with a gold flat wire over purple Bishop's tab seen on the left and a matte grey
flatwire over purple (Catholic) example seen on the right side. Each has a
purple litzen inside each of its columns. Below the respective item is the
script “Feldbischöf” (Field Bishop) and “Ubrige Heeresgeistliche” (all
other Army clergy). The last two items on the board are (on the left) a BeVo
insignia for the Chaplain's Field Cap and a cross for the Chaplains Visor Cap.
Below these it says “Hoheitsabzeichen und Gothisches Kreuz fur Feldmütze” ("National
Emblem and Gothic Cross for Field Cap") and “Gothisches Kreuz fur Schirmütze
("Gothic Cross for Visor Cap"). Attached to the board by a
string is a thick cardboard tag which has a red wax proof/approval stamp from
the Oberkommando des Heeres. The other side of the tag has the script “Broben
der kragenpatten mit doppel-litzen für feldbischöf und die übrigen
heeresgeistlichen, des hoheitsabzeichen mit gotischem kreuz fur feldmütze und
des gotischen kreuz fur schirmütze”. This translates (roughly) to “Sample
of collar tab patterns with double litzen for Field Bishop and the rest of the
Army clergy, and the National emblem with Gothic cross for field cap and the
Gothic cross for visor cap”. Below this it says “Berlin, den 17.7.1937.
Oberkommando des heeres. ("Supreme Command of the Army").
Heeresbekleidungsabteilung. (Army Clothing Department). Böttger.” All of this
is followed by a series of numbers, possibly patent numbers (?). Condition-wise,
there is just a bit of discoloration to both the board itself and the tag. The
Bishop's tab has some toning/discoloration to the lower right (as viewed)
corner. Otherwise, this one-of-a-kind piece of memorabilia is excellent and
would make quite a centerpiece to your cloth collection!
