HG-1  Incredibly Rare Army General’s Old Model  “Crusher” Cap by “Leparo”
This fantastic cap was once part of my personal collection. I’ve decided it’s time for a new caretaker. Of course, these interesting caps earned the nickname “crusher” because the owner could literally fold it in half and stuff it underneath his belt if he wasn’t wearing it. This example is produced in field grey cloth with a tricot weave. It is near excellent condition wise with no damage and just some minor wear and discoloration! The peak is very prominent and even swept back a bit. One of the real stand-outs on this cap is the handsome gold bullion mesh piping seen around the top and on the upper and lower edges of the dark green badge cloth centerband. It has toned slightly and really makes this cap a great looker! The hand applied insignia consists of a machine woven (matte grey) Army eagle over green and a one piece wreath/cockade of silver flatwire, also over green. Each is excellent! The visor is produced in black leather and shows some moderate crazing and age cracking. No doubt the constant folding of the cap has caused this. The underside of the visor is similar condition wise to the top. The interior is fully lined in green cloth which is near excellent with minor discoloration and wear. There is a clear, diamond shaped moisture shield that has the logo and nomenclature of the maker, “Leparo”. This is the acronym for Leonhard Paulig, Rothenburg Odar. There is a brown leather, perforated sweatband that is excellent, just showing minor wear from use. The cap is a size 57. A super scarce item, sure to please!
